MELONITE

I offer salt bath nitride refinishing services on pistols.  This type of finish has several advantages over other finishes on the market.  The biggest advantage is that it is a treatment that gets into the metal.  It is not a surface coating.  The treatment offers corrosion protection, reduced wear of moving parts, and added lubricity.  The treatment works on carbon and stainless steel.  The end result is a dark satin black finish that is highly resistant to wear.  Most of the major components can be treated.  Parts that should not be treated will be black oxided for a good color match.

Update 2009: The popularity of Melonite refinishing has taken up a significant amount of my time.  It has kept me from working on pistols and spending time with my family. I will only be treating pistols that I have worked on. I will not be offering general refinishing services as I have in the past.
